Prayer
“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed
and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed”
Mark 1:35
We all generally know that Prayer is a form of communication to God. It is the method of speaking directly to Him & He to us. However, it may surprise us to know that most Christians are not in the habit of praying. Why is this so? Most often it is time, or the lack of it. By not spending that quality time with God enables us to engage in other tasks that are perceived to be more important. And yet our Savior & Lord deemed it necessary to Pray. Perhaps it is possible we take light of Prayer due to the insufficient understanding that belies Prayer itself. Indeed, it is a form of communication but it can be misunderstood as a “one-way communication.” But it is more than that really, it is the method by which we commune & fellowship with the Divine God in a most spiritual way possible. Yes, it seems like we are the ones doing all the talking:
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words”
(Romans 8:26)
And yet, that is not reality. Our Spirit groans with us so that it communicates to the Lord & intercedes what our human words may fail to communicate. We assume even when we pray that our prayer communicates effectively & sufficiently what we want to communicate. Rather, the Apostle illuminates the astounding reality that even in our words; even when we pray, we fail to communicate to the Lord. He must intercede for us. Knowing & understanding this reality should not deter us to Pray. Rather it should allow us to pray will freedom & security that all we pray are being listened by our Spirit to the Lord of Hosts.
Prayer Requests
Those of us who are infirmed, vulnerable, & sick, will receive treatment & return to us healthy.
If it so pleases the Lord, to rid both our bodies & our country of the Coronavirus.
We would receive from the Lord His comfort & security.
To preserve & sustain His saints from becoming overwhelmed by darkness.
To fill our hearts with all-sustaining peace & a joy that renews our strength.
